Welcome to Fiona Law Art

About

I am Fiona Law, a Scottish born, Australia based visual artist creating abstract works that explore colour, texture, movement, and emotion. My art is shaped by a lifelong fascination with the natural and built world, and by the experiences that have changed me, challenged me, and ultimately led me to painting as both purpose and practice.
Art became central to my life after an accident that resulted in CRPS and disability. In the middle of recovery and uncertainty, painting gave me a way to rebuild myself, reconnect with the world, and make sense of the quiet and difficult moments. What began as a personal act of grounding grew into a full-time creative practice built on resilience, curiosity, and a deep desire to find beauty within struggle.
Today, my work focuses on creating atmospheric abstractions that invite you to pause and feel rather than interpret. I use layered surfaces, shifting colours, and intuitive mark making to explore the spaces between memory and emotion, light and shadow, stillness and movement. Each piece develops through intuition and the sense of connection I want to create.
My practice continues to evolve as I explore new series, new materials, and deeper expressions of the themes that matter to me. I hope that when you view my work, you feel a moment of calm, recognition, or curiosity. A sense that something familiar is being spoken, even if quietly.
If you feel drawn in, I invite you to explore further and see what resonates with you.

Bio

Fiona Law is a Scottish born, Australia based visual artist known for her atmospheric abstract works that explore colour, texture, emotion, and the layered rhythms of both natural and built environments. Working primarily with acrylics, Fiona creates surfaces rich in movement and illusionary space, using an intuitive process that allows each piece to unfold organically through layered mark making.
Her practice is deeply informed by personal experience. After an accident that resulted in CRPS and disability, painting became both a grounding force and a means of rebuilding identity. This period shaped the direction of her art, giving rise to a body of work centered on resilience, healing, and the quiet beauty that exists within challenge. These themes continue to influence her approach, guiding her exploration of transformation, memory, and human connection.
Fiona now works as a full-time artist from her studio in Logan, Queensland, developing original artworks, commissions, prints, and small collectible pieces. She is also part of the Logan Creative Resilience and Recovery Facilitator Group, contributing to community-based projects that support wellbeing and recovery through creativity.
Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find moments of light within layered, abstract spaces. Each artwork carries elements of her story while creating space for others to see their own.
